One of our favorite things about living in Harrisonburg is all the fun festivals in the region! Harrisonburg residents can enjoy festivals that feature old favorites, new discoveries, music, food, and the best ingredient – friendly Harrisonburg people. Looking for a special gift? There’s a festival for that! Want to raise your voice in song? There’s a festival for that, too! Grab the family and check out some of our favorite fests:

Sing Me High Music Festival
This very popular event celebrates music and faith with a two-day festival that is family-friendly, alcohol-free, and full of joy! The 7^th Annual Sing Me High Music Festival features local musicians, a songwriting competition, activities for children, delicious food, and even a pie auction! Make a plan to celebrate the end of the summer season with your family and friends at this very special festival.

Block Party in the ‘Burg
Newcomers to the Friendly City won’t want to miss the Block Party in the ‘Burg! The party is ostensibly a welcome to incoming JMU students who want to get to know Harrisonburg better. Explore Historic Downtown and enjoy activities that will allow you to “Leave Your Mark” on the city, and make your own Tie-Dye t-shirt to celebrate the ‘Burg! Learn about more than 30 local businesses and enjoy giveaways and yummy free samples as you become more familiar with Downtown Harrisonburg.

Harrisonburg International Festival
Harrisonburg’s favorite festival is back and features an exciting new format! Enjoy international food trucks and artisan booths, check out the Global Village, and explore downtown businesses that will offer international food, entertainment, and activities. You can wander on your own through the exhibits or try the self-guided tour of the festival. The festival proudly boasts the motto of “Educate, Entertain, and Eat!”, and you will not be disappointed by this diverse event.

Massanutten Fall Festival
Support the local Fire & Rescue Squads while having a great time with your family at Massanutten! Shop from vendors offering handcrafted jewelry, original art, sand art, candles, and so much more, or enjoy great local food, beer, and wine. Take a chairlift ride to the top of Massanutten and enjoy the amazing view of the Shenandoah Valley from the top of the peak. The event includes delightful fall activities for the entire family.

Downtown Skeleton Festival
Bring in the “Spooky Season” at this family-friendly festival that includes trick-or-treating, costume contests, pumpkin carving, and lots of other fun activities! Past events have included kid, dog, and adult costume contests, a weird science lab, tarot card readings, wacky shacks, face painting, photo booths, and much, much more.
